the four seasonings

I was watching a youtube decorating video, and she said you should have a neutral couch because of course you want it to go with your seasonal throw pillows.
Wait! Back up a bit. Seasonal throw pillows are a thing, and of course I have multiple sets of the things that I diligently change out?
I have my Christmas throw pillows, which I then change to my Valentine’s throw pillows, then St. Paddy’s Day and Easter and May Day and 4th of July and Summer Picnic and August Meteor Showers and Back to School and Harvest and Halloween and Thanksgiving and then back to Christmas again?
Where do I store all these pillows?
Why haven’t I noticed other people diligently changing their sofa pillows every month or two? Sure, I’ve seen the occasional Christmas throw pillow come out with the Christmas decorations, but I’ve never noticed anyone do a wholesale seasonal throw pillow spread.
My mother is a diligent collector of throw pillows (there are at least 7 on her couch and another 7 on her bed, as well as throw pillows for each and every chair), and even she doesn’t swap them all out with every season.
This can’t be an actual thing, can it?
So off I go to ask my with-it pal, Ms. Internet.
She says yes. She says there are sites dedicated to seasonal throw pillows.
I cautiously look at them.
To my relief, while seasonal throw pillows are a thing, seasonal throw pillow covers seem to be a bigger thing. That even makes sense. Every few months, you change your throw pillow covers and wash the used ones.
I could see that. I could even imagine myself getting a spare set of throw pillow covers, maybe even in a different color, and giving them a good washing a few times a year.
Meanwhile, my husband is going around in a robot voice saying “Must get seasonal throw pillows!”
Just close the tab and try to forget you ever saw it.
